Surprise! The Nike x Carhartt WIP collaboration is back, and it's bringing the heat! Remember the buzz back in 2018 when these two giants first joined forces? It was a match made in streetwear heaven, blending Nike's athletic prowess with Carhartt WIP's rugged workwear aesthetic. Now, they're back with a limited apparel collection, and it's set to drop at the SURPLUS Sydney event on October 18th, 2025.
This time around, the focus is on apparel. The collection includes a co-branded OG Active Jacket, a hoodie, and some graphic t-shirts. The OG Active Jacket gets a fresh update with a burnished, washed-out finish on the classic canvas fabric. You'll spot the usual Carhartt tag, but the back proudly displays a Nike SURPLUS swoosh graphic. The hoodie and tee feature a bold lime green, juxtaposing the iconic Swoosh with a branded Carhartt pocket.
But here's where it gets controversial... This limited collection seems exclusive to the SURPLUS event in Sydney. Does this mean a wider collaboration is in the works? Carhartt WIP, the street-focused arm of the workwear brand, has been on a roll with collaborations since that initial Nike partnership. They've teamed up with Japanese labels like Sacai and Junya Watanabe, and even dropped Japan-exclusive items, like a leatherized OG Active jacket.
And this is the part most people miss...Given that Converse is owned by Nike, Carhartt WIP's 2024 collaboration with Converse is a bit of a head-scratcher. Was the Carhartt WIP x Converse CONS Pack a hint that something more was brewing with Nike? While there's no official word from either brand, the possibilities are exciting.
Remember the 2018 footwear release? Carhartt WIP gave the Air Force 1 and Air Max 95 a vintage camo leather makeover with hi-vis orange details. With footwear trends evolving at warp speed, imagine what a future Carhartt x Nike footwear line could look like! Maybe a duck canvas upper? The dream isn't far-fetched, considering Nike's recent partnership with Levi's and NIGO on a washed denim Air Force 3 Low.
