Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan on Wednesday criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s recent remarks about the Indian Army, calling them “shameful” and “unfortunate”.

Mr. Gandhi had claimed that only 10% of India’s population, referring to the upper castes, controls the Army.

Mr. Paswan emphasised that the Army should not be viewed through the lens of caste or religion, as it is an institution that serves the nation as a whole. He stated that dividing the Army on the basis of caste is not good and such remarks “insult the Army”.

Speaking to reporters in Patna, the Union Minister said, "The army is a subject that should not be politicised. He has insulted the soldiers. This is not only shameful but also unfortunate. "No surprise if BJP and alliance do not reach even three digits": Congress MP Pramod Tiwari

As Bihar is set to vote for the first phase of assembly elections tomorrow, Congress MP Pramod Tiwari on Wednesday asserted that there would be “no surprise” if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and alliance fails to secure even 100 seats in the polls, attributing it to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s “inability” to work and campaign for the coalition.

Speaking to ANI, the Congress MP said, "This time, Nitish Kumar’s inability to work, his inability to tour, and the way the BJP has ignored him will lead to a reduction in the BJP’s seats. JDU’s seats will also be reduced. Overall, I can say that the NDA will get significantly fewer seats, and this will directly benefit the alliance of Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav."

"He (Union Home Minister Amit Shah) is giving the figure of 160 to save his sinking boat. In fact, I am saying this with complete confidence that no one should be surprised if the BJP and the alliance do not reach even three digits," Mr. Tiwari added.

'Sushasan' vs 'Bhrashtachar:' BJP MP Jagdambika Pal highlights development works in the State

A day before the first phase of the Bihar elections, BJP MP Jagdambika Pal on Wednesday asserted that voters remember the ‘jungle raj’ and can see the developmental work done in the State, framing this year’s election as a choice between good governance and corruption.

The BJP MP also emphasised that, for the first time, voters across Bihar have become vocal, as they can see the developmental work taking shape in the State’s capital, Patna.

Mr. Pal highlighted improvements in connectivity, including the development of expressways, highways, and four-lane roads across the State, Patna Airport’s capacity to handle 1 crore passengers and the upcoming international airports in Bhagalpur, Darbhanga, and Bihta. "...Usually, only after the voting in the first phase of elections the chances of a political party’s victory seemed possible. This is the first time when voters across Bihar are vocal. They can see the work in Bihar. If you speak about the State capital city of Patna, JP Ganga Path is called the Marine Drive of the State...There are expressways, highways, and four-lane roads in Bihar."

"Now, the Patna Airport is equipped to handle 1 crore passengers. International Airports are coming up in Bhagalpur, Darbhanga and Bihta. So, look at the connectivity today. There was no connectivity and possibilities in Bihar...People remember the ‘jungle raj’ here earlier, and on the other hand work has been done. These elections are about ‘ Sushasan’ (good governance) vs ‘ Bhrashtachar’ (corruption), ‘Sushasan’ vs ‘Kushashan’ (misgovernance)..." Mr. Pal told ANI.
